August 18, 2016We talk a lot about Tutor Doctor’s comprehensive and world class training program, but what actually goes on during Tutor Doctor training? This past Monday, Tutor Doctor gave our followers a sneak peek behind the scenes with our newest class of franchisees on Facebook Live!
Tutor Doctor is about helping people achieve that “a ha moment”, and that doesn’t only apply to our students. Tutor Doctor’s franchise owners go through an intensive training process where they not only learn about Tutor Doctor, but how to run a successful business. The program ensures that they hit the ground running as soon as they open their doors.
One of our newest franchisees, Shana Deering from Texas, explains that the support Tutor Doctor offers, especially during training, has made a world of difference: “I can’t get over how much we’ve learned, how much support that you guys give to franchise owners. This to me has been the biggest takeaway because if I’d gone into business on my own I would have struggled.”
Like we say to our students, learning isn’t just about books. That is a philosophy we apply to our franchisees, old and new, as well. The Tutor Doctor program focuses on hands on learning with a team of experts - from our training coordinators to our Franchise Field Consultants - teaching franchise owners what it takes to launch a successful business.
As Martin Brown, from Edinburgh, Scotland, explains, "it’s all been fun [but] it really is the support that is available to each franchisee. Now, I know what it’s like to run a business. Once you know what you know, you know how hard it is to do something for the first time. So knowing that there’s a whole team there, not just the model, but the system, the support, the marketing – all those activities exist, and all I’ve got to do is plug into them."
One of the most unique and important aspects of Tutor Doctor’s training is the comradery. Our training groups go through their learning together, and are able to rely on each other for encouragement. In fact, a lot of our franchisees stay in touch with their peers from training, using each other as a great support system as they open their businesses.
Barbara Hugelen, the first franchisee from Fargo, North Dakota has a corporate background and is a mother of three. As a busy mom with a child with learning disabilities, she was drawn to Tutor Doctor because she had struggled with scheduling sessions at learning centres. In the class, she has found a something more than colleagues: “I’m really excited to be able to make a difference. I love the family feel. I feel like I’m part of a family. Everyone is in it together.”
