October 11, 2016Tutor Doctor franchise owner Jeffrey Frichner got into education franchising because of one simple thing - his children. As a father of four, he’s seen his children graduate from such illustrious institutions as Cornell University and California Polytechnic. Through his children’s education, Frichner saw the importance of studying and working hard, and he saw how Tutor Doctor could help students do that.
Perhaps that’s why The Temecula Patch, a local news outlet, approached Jeffrey to talk about everything from education advice to his three favourite books (hint: one of them is a classic by Fyodor Dostoevsky).
The foundation of Jeffrey’s business acumen is his view on his “competitors” in the industry: : Honestly, I don’t think we have any competition. We view all other educators as partners and we are thrilled when students are the big winners.”
However, Jeffrey believes that Tutor Doctor has an advantage when helping students. He tells The Patch “one-on-one tutoring is Tutor Doctor’s bedrock. Every student has a different learning style and addressing his or her needs individually is almost always a home run with the right tutor.”
The nature of the program means that Tutor Doctor can customize the curriculum to the student’s unique learning style. As Jeffrey points out, “I am an audio learner and I did not do well throughout middle and high school. Most public education is taught for visual learners and I lost interest because my teachers did not understand my learning style. I would actually get in trouble for closing my eyes in class even though that’s the way I learn best.”
As Jeffrey explains to The Patch, the best thing about Tutor Doctor is that the matching process takes this all into account. It’s about ensuring the student is learning in whatever way works best for them.
