Misty Sheffield is acheiving family and life goals with Tutor Doctor, after taking the plunge to transition from paralegal to entrepreneur to suppor her community.

After 20 years as a paralegal, the single mother of three decided she wanted to own a business that would involve her children and provide a valuable service to the community she knows and loves.

She decided it was time to branch out to pursue her dreams, and chose Tutor Doctor because of its focus on education and commitment to giving back.

"I wanted something that my family could get involved with and maybe ultimately take over or at least be a part of," she explains. "I have two boys in high school and a daughter in college and they have all helped me tremendously.  We put up tents and events at different festivals.  They are great helpers because they run games for the kids, providing prizes and activities for kids who come up to the booth.  My younger son also likes to wear our 'Big Apple' mascot costume."

During her journey as a new business owner, she's also learned that her children are great salespeople, while they have gained valuable business experience.

Although she found venturing out into the business world to be scary at first, she has no regrets and figures she would have regretted not trying at all, more than potentially failing. Her intuituon proved to be correct and her business is flourishing.
